About the Virtual Exchange Programme by Spring University Myanmar and the University of Arizona

This project involved a pre-camp Training for Myanmar students and an 8-day-long Virtual Camp for the US and Myanmar students. The pre-camp training equipped 15 students from Myanmar with essential knowledge about human rights and democracy as well as with soft skills such as effective communication and interpersonal skills. For University of Arizona (UA) students, recordings were provided beforehand to prepare before the main camp. The virtual camp (Main Camp) facilitated interactive activities that promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences and learning about human rights and democracy between Myanmar and American students. The virtual camp was designed to involve virtual ice-breaking activities, workshops, and interactive sharing sessions via the Zoom platform. Both SUM and UA students conducted cultural presentations and performances during the main camp. Following the virtual camp, all participants had to prepare their capstone group presentations regarding the problems in their respective communities they would like to address and their proposed interventions thereto. The groups were formed with a mixture of SUM and UA students. In the last phase of the project, three winning groups were selected; whose proposed project ideas were funded and implemented under the supervision of SUM and UA.
