About

Who we are

STEM School is one of the academic faculties of Spring University Myanmar (SUM), set up in response to the nationwide education crisis that followed the 2021 military coup. We provide resilient, inclusive, high-quality STEM education to Myanmar youth, particularly those who are displaced, in exile or shut out of formal learning. As part of SUM's wider mission, we help learners follow academic and professional pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and prepare them to become socially responsible problem-solvers who contribute to Myanmar's democratic and sustainable future.

Our vision

To nurture a generation of innovative, creative and socially responsible STEM enthusiasts, shaped by both academic and industry training, who contribute to Myanmar's democratic future and drive sustainable development.

Our mission

  • Provide accessible and resilient STEM education to Myanmar youth, despite socio-political and economic challenges.
  • Equip students with industry-ready skills and academic foundations to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  • Connect STEM education with real-world problem-solving, taking a socially responsible approach to social, economic and environmental issues.
  • Advocate for inclusive, innovative and sustainable education pathways in Myanmar.

Our objectives

  • Provide accessible and resilient STEM education to Myanmar youth.
  • Foster socially responsible and innovative problem-solvers.
  • Build a connected network of stakeholders for collaborative learning and mentorship.
